Dr. Alan Garrison is a ninth generation Georgia native (although educated in Wisconsin), holds an earned Ph.D. in Psychotherapy from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and has practiced in the Atlanta, GA, area since 1985. As a Adjunct Faculty in the Psychology Department, he keeps current on research findings in the areas of individual counseling, couples counseling, child counseling, teen counseling, and Court services to better serve his clientele. During the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games, he was a staff member of the Georgia Mental Health Disaster Response Team and has extensive experience in the area of multicultural counseling. He has written and presented 22 professional papers in his areas of expertise at the state, regional, and national levels and was a co-author of the Georgia Driver Improvement Clinics (also known as DUI Schools). He is recognized in Atlanta-area Courts as an Expert Witness and has consulted to local Courts in both civil and criminal matters to aid clientele in “having their day in Court” in such categories as substance abuse evaluations, alcohol and drug treatment, domestic violence treatment, and anger management classes.
